Guided Thoughts

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:105 (KJV)

Reflecting on the Word of God this morning- how through His Word He guides and instructs us, I caught myself thinking of how quickly our hearts are inclined to forget that privilege.

Especially now. Amidst fears of COVID-19 spreading globally, locust invasion in the country and the seemingly uncertain times ahead, we all might have at one time caught ourselves forgetting God's promises and sovereignty in all matters and more worried about vitu kwa ground. In these times when we are forced to minimize our movement physically, our thoughts tend to rush all over the place; exposing our hidden fears. Even if for a fraction of a minute- we might have wondered whether God is in this. (When in fact, He is!)

Psalm 119:105 got me questioning the places I have been allowing my thoughts to wander to lately. Because I think our minds are like feet. They can walk into places bringing up thoughts guided by what we feed them.

Thoughts of fear when we look around us. But what if we look into the Word of God for the words that give light? (Psalm 119:130)

Darkness when we watch and read the news. But what if we look to the Good News of a Saving Christ even in difficult times always? (1 Timothy 1:15-17)

I pray that our faith may be emboldened. To know that our God has gone before us and He knows the end from the beginning despite our stubbornness. (Isaiah 46: 8-11) Because faith comes by hearing, and hearing the word of Christ. (Romans 10:17)

May our thoughts be guided by His Word alone. May our minds only walk where He leads us. And if we must, may we only wander over thoughts of wonder... of His majesty and sovereignty in every season! I pray for grace as we look into His Word and check our hearts and thoughts. Amen.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus

Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace!
