IDENTITY

(This is a random picture from one of my site visits at work)
This reminded me of my childhood. My sister and I would look for the 'map of Kenya' in the patterns formed by the cracks on the ground; and more often than not, we found it. (who else did that?)
This got me thinking... how many times do we 'forget ourselves' ,our identity in life when we are faced with hard times? Only to come back later, to look for our identity amongst the cracks in our lives? Well, we should always rest assured, because our true identity is in God! Simply put, FIND HIM,FIND IT!

I posted this picture and the caption earlier this year on Facebook. It was one of those random pictures we take but it turned out to have more meaning. Today, I got a fresh perspective on identity. As much as it wasn't one of those eureka moments, I think I heard the light bulb click as it went on... true story!
Who are you? Can you clearly give a description of who you are? Would you stutter? (even in your mind?)
God in Exodus 3:14 told Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.'"
God's identity remains. He knows it. He speaks it. He didn't tell Moses to go tell the Israelites he has been sent by the guy who was planning to bring them out of Egypt. Otherwise, the poor guys would have probably thought that's all He could do!  So many times I have found myself trying to be so many things I'm not. Especially when things are not going as expected in my life. But at the end of the day I can only trace my being back to God!
In Architecture, we work with plans and designs. For anything to be established, it must be on plan. A reference. A reference of the dimensions, shape, material used and even its purpose after completion!
So what would make us any different?
  • We have a designer? (check)
  • Each of us are unique in our own way?(check)
  • We are here for a purpose? (check)
Then we don't need to look for our identity elsewhere! It is known and it is sealed! Lets find God for in Him we find our identity.

I love this song by Israel Houghton 'Identity'
You are my father
you are my father
you are my future, my destiny...

Lay your hands on me
Tell me who I am
I can do all things
If you say I can
Show me I am free
Free to accomplish your plans for me...
In conclusion, you will find yourselves in doubt sometimes. Perhaps about everything that you have ever known or thought to be true about yourselves; but one thing is true and constant- God's love and purpose for you holds, even when everything else crumbles. Learn to cleave onto God...He knows who you are.

All my Love...B
