Girls, Dolls and The One thing You Need to Know in 2014

Hi Lovelies! Happy holidays! It has been forever, I know *guilty*. Ive been quite busy with school, but I'm back. Today, I'm having a good friend of mine on the blog and I know you will be blessed as much as I have been blessed. Your feedback will be appreciated! Read on ...
(GUEST POST: Joey Njuki)

It was a white and woolly doll.

A sheep.

Amina clutched onto it even as she slept. The little girl laid her head just below the seat window. Her pink sweater and purple headscarf kept her warm and burst with colour in the morning sun.

Her arm was wrapped tight around the sheep’s neck, as if to say “You are mine. I will never let you go.” Pause and say those words with the voice of a four-year-old girl – real and filled with conviction, right?

The sheep’s legs and tails bounced in the air as the matatu hit the bump. She opened her eyes and sat up. Her tiny fingers now wrapped around the animal’s back.

It had a round face with big plastic oval eyes attached with glue. The legs were short and straight -matchstick straight and there was a brown dirt spot on the side. It must have tasted the dirt once.

That didn’t matter.

It was a precious doll. The kind you never leave on the ground too long. And Amina loved her white, woolly, helpless sheep with all the love a child could muster. She was David; the shepherd and the precious doll, her sheep.

All this to say:

You are clutched in the hands of God.

You are precious.

You are priceless.

The next time you feel alone, the next time you feel abandoned, the next time everything around you causes you to doubt how much you are worth. Remember this:

You are His beloved.

He is the shepherd, and you – his white, woolly, precious sheep.
